David Hull is a partner in Van Bael & Bellis in Brussels. He began practising EU competition law in Brussels in 1984.

He represents clients before the EU courts in Luxembourg and the European Commission and advises them on all aspects of competition law. His practice has a strong focus on complex investigations and litigation. Recent cases include:  Lundbeck (“reverse payment” patent settlements); Ryanair (appeal of Commission decision blocking takeover of Aer Lingus); Akzo (landmark case on legal privilege) and Bitumen (appeal of cartel decision). .

Mr. Hull has expertise in issues arising from the intersection of competition and IP law involving hi-tech industries such as pharmaceuticals and IT. He teaches a course on European competition and IP law at the University of Liège.

He holds an undergraduate degree in economics from Davidson College, earned his J.D. degree from the University of Georgia and his LL.M. degree from the Institute of European Studies at the Free University of Brussels. He is admitted as a solicitor in England and Wales.
