Joachim Wiemann is an official at DG Competition. He is a German qualified lawyer and holds an LL.M. degree from Harvard Law School.
Joachim joined DG Competition in 2011 and has since then worked in the field of State aid control. Major policy projects he has been dealing with are the draft of a comprehensive notice on the notion of State aid and the 2011 SGEI package. As regards State aid case enforcement, his focus has been in the areas of fiscal measures, SGEIs and infrastructure.
Before joining the Commission, Joachim worked for a major law firm in Brussels in the field of competition and State aid law and conducted academic research.
